MPS BUDGET INFORMATION + RESOURCES

Last week over 150 MPS staff received conditional reduction-in-force (RIF) or termination notices. The impact at Montclair High School includes the loss of 13 positions:

1 SRO officer
4 security staff
1 Restorative Justice
1 librarian
3 Montclair Counseling Services clinicians
2 nurses
1 curriculum support

Please note these notices are not final decisions. The notifications are legally required in case Question 2 in the special election on December 9th does not pass.

Potential impact: If reductions are required, some positions will end as of December 31, 2025 and other staff will be reassigned to a different position.

As part of PTAC, PTA Presidents met with Superintendent Turner and discussed the many community concerns and questions surrounding the deficit. After a lengthy,  thoughtful, and direct conversation we voted unanimously to support PTAC advocating for a Yes/Yes vote.
