Dear Watchung Elementary Parents,
We’re excited to announce that we are launching a WhatsApp Community for our school! This new platform will provide another convenient way for parents to stay connected and support one another throughout the school year, and will help to include parents who do not have or prefer not to use Facebook.
What is the WhatsApp Community? While you’ll continue to receive official updates through our PTA website, Facebook and email, this WhatsApp Community will not only serve as an additional channel for PTA communication but as a space for parents to connect, coordinate, collaborate, ask questions, and crowdsource answers from fellow parents. Think of it as your go-to place for staying informed and for quick parent-to-parent communication and community building.
How it’s organized:

There are individual groups for each grade level (K-5th)

There is a dedicated group for parents of children who use bus transportation

There is a group for parents with children in YMCA before/aftercare programs

Important to know:

Joining is completely optional – official PTA communications will continue through our website and email as always

This community works alongside (not instead of) individual class groups you may already be part of or will soon join – we encourage both!

Bus specific, class specific, and program specific groups (e.g., “Blue Cookie Bus 2025/26”) can be created and linked to from within this community
We believe this will be a wonderful way to strengthen our parent community and make it easier to share resources, ask those quick questions, and support one another.

Once you join, you’ll automatically be added to the main announcements group where you’ll receive official updates. From there, you can choose to join any of the individual groups that are relevant to your family.
